Richard-Gotfried-MLARichard Gotfried is the current MLA for Calgary-Fish Creek. Richard was elected to his first term on May 5, 2015 and to his second term on April 16, 2019.

Richard currently serves as a private member. Richard currently sits on the Standing Committee on Private Bills, serves as Deputy-Chair for the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, and Chair of the Standing committee on The Alberta Heritage and Savings Trust Fund. Previously, Richard served as Opposition Critic for the portfolios of International and Intergovernmental Relations, Housing, and Seniors.

During his formative and young adult years, Richard accumulated significant business experience that brings valuable insights to his current work. He has also worked in senior executive positions in the private sector, as well as with Calgary Economic Development.

Richard is a long-time community leader, serving through numerous volunteer roles, including scouting and school athletics, and leadership roles on many community and business foundations.

A passionate community builder, Richard is proud to have founded the PEAK Home Ownership Program with Habitat for Humanity. He also led an innovative community partnership with the Trico Centre for Family Wellness.

Richard is a native Calgarian. He and his wife Cathy have lived, worked and raised their three children in Calgary-Fish Creek for the past 27 years.
